On March 8, 2025, International Women’s Day (IWD) became a significant occasion for WATCH and PAM, where both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to women’s rights, equality, and empowerment. Aligning with this year’s IWD theme, WATCH and PAM organized various activities promoting women’s leadership, legal literacy, and social justice.
And its WATCH 33 year of Establishment.
Rally and Inauguration Ceremony
The program commenced at 8 AM with a rally featuring participation from WATCH staff and board, PAM board, staff and children and the local level authorities. The rally amplified voices for women’s empowerment and raised awareness of gender equality.
The inauguration ceremony was conducted by WATCH Secretary Padma Shakya, with PAM President Dr Basanta Shrestha delivering the opening remarks. He highlighted the history , importance and why IWD must be celebrated. The event was further graced by the presence of Ward No. 1 Chairman Rameshwor Lama and ward member, emphasizing the importance of local government support for gender equality initiatives.
Presentation on Women’s Rights and Legal Awareness
WATCH’s Parbata Shrestha delivered an informative session on women’s rights and legal provisions. She discussed the challenges women face due to a lack of legal awareness and emphasized the importance of legal mechanisms in ensuring gender equality.
Children’s Performance: Future Leaders in Action
Children from PAM presented special performances thought-provoking plays by their skills. Their enthusiastic participation inspired the audience, reinforcing the significance of educating the younger generation on gender equality and empowerment and awareness.

Distinguished guests delivered speeches, appreciating the efforts of WATCH and PAM in advancing gender equality, women’s leadership, and social justice. The discussions addressed the persistent challenges women face and explored solutions for creating a more inclusive society.
