In an inspiring moment of recognition, Women Acting Together for Change (WATCH) was
honored with the prestigious 2024 International Women’ Creativity for Rural Life Award, placing
it among the world’s top 10 organizations as recognized by the Women’s World Summit
Foundation (WWSF). This award acknowledges WATCH’s ongoing commitment to empowering
rural women, fostering sustainable development, and enhancing climate resilience at the
grassroots level in Nepal. The Award Certificate was handed over to WATCH Deputy Director,
Parvata Shrestha by Lumbini Pradesh Speaker Honorable Tula Ran Gharti Magar “Basanta” in
a ceremony when Rural Women’s Day and Poverty Elimination Day were also celebrated. There
were women from Tinau Municipality, Palpa; Devadaha Municipality, Rupandehi and Sarawal
Municiplaity, West Nawal Parasi. Mayor o Devadah Municiplaity, Vice Chairpersons of Tinau
and Sarawal as well as Provincial Member of Parliament, Ms. Nirmala Chaudhary were also
present. WATCH also honored the previous AWARD winner: Nirmala Chaudhary, Indira Aryal and
Dil Kumari Magar who were nominated by WATCH.
