Core Values

We have an unshakable belief that even the poorest women and men can make socially beneficial decisions as long as they are provided with opportunities and an environment to make such decisions. However, the creation of opportunities and how they are created may destroy their confidence or build and strengthen it. The imposition of ideas and technologies, which are foreign to local people may destroy their self-confidence and affect their self-image. We believe disadvantaged women and men would like to make adaptations, that suit their surroundings and situations, with any new ideas whenever these people are recognized as real partners in activities. As development and social workers we need to become sensitive to such situations instead of driving our own ideas and concepts. But this kind of sensitivity will not be possible unless an environment and opportunities are provided to enter the knowledge and experiences of the poor and oppressed into the process of identifying, shaping and managing new opportunities and resources.
