Celebrating 11th International Rural Women’s Day

Rural Women’s Day was celebrated with the procession to safeguard rural women’s rights and demand services. Women Acting Together for Change (WATCH) organized the program coordinating with its supporting organization Women Awareness Support Group (WASG) and Awake Nepali Rural Women Coalition (ANRWC). Rally was organized with the active participation of three organization’s members. The slogan was “Rise, Rise and Claim Your Rights and Resources.”

The reason behind celebrating this day on 8th October 2018 is due to member participants’ requests. Because the national festival Dashain was very near and also participants from different districts like Lalitpur, Okhaldhunga, Kavre, Kapilbastu and Rupandehi were invited for the program so they wanted to celebrate early together and celebrate later in their own areas.

In the program Ms. Indira Aryal was awarded with WWSF Prize for Women’s Creativity in Rural Life 2018 on behalf of Women’s World Summit Foundation (WWSF). She is one of the ten women who were selected out from worldwide.
